Magic Carpet Ride

Daddy always gets Jesse all hyped up before bedtime if he makes it home in time...oh well, at least they have fun together! (you can hear him laughing real hard if you listen carefully over my loud mouth!)

Jesse turns ONE!

Jesse turned ONE a few weeks ago and we celebrated in style like pirates! We had a small crowd, which was perfect...Anderson's (pre-babies), Miskowski's, and Swanson's (as in Theresa, not Jess). Jesse LOVED his cake this time and was in heaven with all his new loot. The new toys still keep him occupied for hours, even after the "new-ness" wore off.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes Jesse got in the mail and over the phone!

Like Mommy Like Son?

If you really know me, you know that I frequently plan my route for running errands according to where a drive-thru is that has Coke. (seriously--no joke!) So you can imagine how fitting it was that all the Coke in the house entertained Jesse for an unheard of amount of time, considering his short attention span these days...

I personally think this would be a great Coke ad!

Thanks, Grandma, for washing your phone!

The Fett's FINALLY have internet...now for the update I know our public has been waiting very patiently for (Lucas?!):

We finally closed on our house July 15 and then Garret took command on July 17...those of you who are familiar with the military know that is CRAZY timing for everything at once! Luckily, both sets of our parents came in for the Change of Command and they earned their keep by painting and cleaning their fannies off! Without their help, we probably still wouldnt be living in our house yet. I'll post some before and after pictures of the house as soon as I take them (soon, I promise).

I went to Maryland for one of my best friend's wedding, then Mary come out for a visit. Then we had Minnesota cousins for a weekend, and now it's time to celebrate Jesse's birthday already! Can you believe he's ONE?!?!!

Enjoy the random pictures to summarize our summer. I'll pur more up as I remember what we did!

Wow, that's BIG!

(that's what she said!) Sorry, I couldn't resist :)

This is a zucchini and cucumber I picked out of my friend's garden when we were staying at their house back in July. Her garden is organic...maybe it's better to grow things that way after all!

SO funny!

So funny looking? So funny smelling? I don't know what's so funny, but Jesse thinks Diva is the most hilarious creature on this earth. I wish I had gotten the camera quicker so you could hear the 5 minutes straight (no joke!) of gut laughing at Diva.

SURPRISE!

...and afterwards

Ahhhh...the little surprises that life always has waiting around the corner for us...some we want and others we don't. Let me explain:

We were supposed to close on our home this past Friday, our loan officer was on the phone with us all week getting things from Garret that she needed, and then Thursday night came along--they didn't have it together for us to sign on Friday and had been, in fact, stringing us along the whole week...SURPRISE!
We have to replace all the carpet and paint all the walls before we can move it. We picked carpet that was in-stock, they came out and measured the rooms, set-up an installation date...SURPRISE--they have to order the carpet now and don't know when it'll be in!
Thankfully, it's all sorting itself out now. We plan on closing this coming Wednesday or Thursday on our home. We have a family friend flying out to be our paid "handyman" on Tuesday and he'll stay for 10 days...that should really help us get a lot done to the house. Garret's Change of Command Ceremony is Friday, so both families are coming for that...the timing couldn't be more perfect for us since there will be extra hands to help with Jesse and the movers.
This past Monday I got a phone call from my Hawaii belly buddy, Jess Keane. She is a member of an exclusive club that we refer to as BOS (more on that later) as well with me. She's been a traveling lady this month since her husband is out of town and had time to make a trip to Kansas to see me the very next day--SURPRISE!!! Keane stayed 4 nights, 2 with me and 2 with another BOS member, Alexis. Her little boy, Billy, is almost a year now and it was too funny watching him and Jesse play together and steal food, toys, pacifiers from each other. Keane's trip was truly the best surprise of all.
